Bucks for Province

AMATEUR cricket in the Western Province has received R5 million cash injection from the JAG Investment Group.

Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) currently facilitates the participation of more than 25 000 cricketers in the province, as well as six representative teams from under-13 upwards.

JAG’s owner and managing director Greg James said sport can have a positive effect on body and mind.

“We are passionate about ensuring socio-economic upliftment and I believe that sport is invaluable in achieving this goal,” says James.

He is convinced that the physical and mental invigoration of sport and exercise provides an attractive alternative to drugs and gangsterism for kids who may not have had an option otherwise.

In this respect, JAG’s partnership with WPCA to support amateur cricketers could be instrumental in offering underprivileged youth an alternative to life on the streets.
