Trends show that SA is one of the top choices of destination in the UK, and that most people interested in relocating are considering opening their own businesses or want to retire.
That’s the word from Greg James, the MD of JAG Investment Group, which recently acquired Constantia-based property company Macleod Properties.
Macleod Properties, together with Leana Nel Relocations, represented SA at a number of annual property and relocations shows held in the UK last month.
The move to introduce Macleod Properties to the international arena comes as a result of its recent acquisition by JAG, and is a part of a bigger plan to grow Macleod Properties into one of the top property houses in SA, and increase its market presence internationally.
Leana Nel says SA is one of the only countries that offer affordable permanent visas.
James says the timing is right to appeal to the overseas market, predominantly the UK. He says that with more than 1-million South Africans living in the UK and with many of them planning to return to SA within the next five years, Macleod’s presence at the UK shows is crucial to be able to cater to this market.
James says that national statistics on emigration in the UK also show that 204 000 British citizens emigrated in 2004, and that SA was one of the top choices of destination.
