Greg James: Founder of JAG Investment Group

Greg James is a Chartered Accountant (SA) who obtained a Higher Diploma in Accounting and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Rhodes University.

His expertise includes financial management, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and business turnaround.

While in South Africa he held the position of Senior Audit Manager at Pricewaterhouse Coopers Inc.

In 1994 Greg immigrated to Switzerland and joined Glencore International, one of the world’s largest suppliers of commodities and raw materials to industrial consumers. At Glencore he was the Chief Financial Officer for the Coal Division and later was Head of Industrial Assets and Group Audit.

Under Greg’s management coal assets from Colombia, Australia and South Africa were added to Glencore’s portfolio. Over an eight-year period, Glencore became one of the world’s largest producers of export thermal coal in 2001.

In addition, he facilitated the sale of coal mines in South Africa and Australia to Xstrata. These sales led to the firm’s listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).

In 2006 Greg returned to South Africa and established the JAG Investment Group, a diverse investment and consultancy company focused mainly on mid-tier mining and property companies.

In April 2007 James established the JAG Sports and Educational Foundation. The aim of the Foundation is to have an impact on the future of South Africa by influencing the lives of previously disadvantaged children through sport and education.

Greg is the Founder of the JAG Investment Group, as well as CEO of Central Rand Gold (CRG), gold mining exploration company based in Johannesburg. CRG is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and has a secondary listing on the JSE.

Shahadev Naidoo: Chief Executive Officer of JAG Investment Group

Shahadev Naidoo has a Diploma as a Commercial and Industrial Specialist, and more recently a Diploma in Commercial Property from Pretoria University, Department of Construction and Economics. He completed the Property Development Programme at UCT GSB in 1999.

Shahadev has spent 20 years in the banking industry, specializing in property finance and property development. He has worked for New Republic Bank Ltd, Cape of Good Hope Bank Property Finance, Imperial Bank Property Finance, Standard Bank Properties and FNB Private Clients as a Specialized Lender.

He is culturally very active and a keen musician, playing Indian classical instruments.

In February 2007, he entered the private sector and is now the Chief Executive Officer of JAG Investment Group.

Gerhardi Odendaal: Executive Director

Gerhardi Odendaal is a Chartered Accountant CA (SA), who obtained his Bachelor of Accounting Science (Hons) degree from the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein in 2000.

Gerhardi worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc in South Africa and the United Kingdom. for a period of 5 years, gaining exposure to a wide variety of clients and assignments across many different industries in the Private as well as Public Sector.

More recently Gerhardi spent 8 months in the Republic of Armenia as a Financial Advisor to Deno Gold Mining Company. Gerhardi played a crucial role in the formulation and completion of a due diligence that led to the successful sale of an 80% majority shareholding in the Company to a TSX listed mining company.

In January 2007 he joined JAG and is now Executive Director of the Group.

Robbie Fleck: Executive Director

Robbie Fleck played professional rugby for over 10 years representing Western Province, Stormers and South Africa. The former Springbok played 31 tests for his country and was the vice captain of the Springboks in 2001.

Robbie finished off his professional career playing for the famous Bath Rugby Club in the UK. In 2005 he returned to Cape Town after a career ending injury to pursue an interest in business.

Robbie joined JAG in May 2007 as an Executive Director of the Group and the JAG Foundation.

Rochell Serdyn: Chief Financial Officer

Rochell Serdyn obtained her Bachelor of Accounting Science (Hons) degree in 2001 from the University of Stellenbosch. She is a Chartered Accountant CA(SA). Rochell worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc in Stellenbosch for 5 years, of which 2 years was as an audit manager. She gained valuable experience through a wide variety of clients that included the likes of British American Tobacco, Southern Associated Malters (full subsidiary of SAB), Parmalat, Fine Chemicals, etc.

She joined JAG Investment Group in August 2006 as the Chief Financial Officer of the group.
